Starting your eCommerce website


There is nothing, I repeat nothing more important than the words you use on your web site. The written word is very powerful.

It is the words you write that will persuade your customer to buy from your website.

It's not the fancy graphics or the flash presentation, it is the words that sell.

"If you want your visitors to be customers you must write effective sales copy!"


Words that sell are extremely important to the success of your sales site. Effective writing is an absolute must!! You have a few choices now.
  • Hire a professional for effective writing of your sales copy.
  • Take a stab at it yourself and see what happens through trial and error.
  • Do an exhaustive search on the internet to find how other people write effecitve sales copy.
  • Purchase a specific product designed to help you write deadly sales copy.





Remember back on the opening page when I stated "Don't try to reinvent the wheel?" My advise to you on writing effective sales copy is to learn from the pros.

It is an art.



I need some writing tips!


Each page on your website has to have a specific purpose or goal in mind. What do you want the reader to do? The opening headline and the opening paragraph are key to catching the attention of the reader. If you can't capture their interest at the top of the page then they won't be reading to the bottom.

Keep their interest throughout the body of the page by using sub-headings highlighting your key points.

Finally, build a link at the bottom of the page that will create further action from your reader. Make him or her want to continue!

The Power of Repetition


Repeating keywords and phrases creates an almost "hypnotic" state in the mind of your reader. Writing effective sales copy targets the message you want to relay and very much controls the thoughts and actions of your potential customer.

Writing effective sales copy will strongly influence your reader's subconscious mind. When your reader needs to make a conscious decision, guess what guides him.... that's right, his subconscious. It will be the seeds you planted in your sales copy that will dictate his decisions.

Keep your paragraphs short.
Keep your words simple.
Keep your message clear and well organized.

Do not mix fonts but rather experiment with size, strength and color.

You can even have a single sentence paragraph for impact.

Above all make sure your content is packed with relevant, targeted information. After all the only person that has to enjoy what you write is the person interested in buying your product.
